Foreword:
Sinox' s ongoing success in the business world for the last 40 years finds its source in its very own and unique approach to R&D via its natively grown SIEM team organization. Since its humble beginnings, the company had been defined in its every facet by the guidance, leadership and unifying force of its Founding Chairman C.K. Ling. As the company morphed into high growth mode so did the Sales, Research & Development and Design functions hitherto coalesced within his persona, have to find their distinctive directions and identities. Thus was spawned the SIEM team organizational structure which emancipated each function into a clearly defined and independent departments whilst maintaining a cohesive, collaborative and mutually supportive corporate ecosystem to take Sinox forward into the 21s century
Origins:
The evolution of the SIEM organizational structure took its humble beginnings from the monthly scheduled meetings between Sales and R&D, a rotating report from different sale section: luggage, travel, pc, bicycle and hardware, R&D was subsequently further refined in 2006 when industrial Design became of age and the organizational structure formally took the name of SIE(Sales + Industrial Design + Engineering Design). The global economic crisis of 2008 clearly underlined the importance of productivity and manufacturing efficiency. Thus, in 2009, the Chairman formerly added Manufacturing to complete the system into SIEM
Essence:
The essence of SIEM lies in information sharing and dissemination from the marketplace to apparatus of research & development, production, assembly and distribution can foster a wealth of real time data resulting in shorter time to market through better manufacturing planning and lower R&D costs.
Purpose:
Building on past accumulated planning and design experience, SIEM aims to optimize workflow, at the outset of any new product design common database and information databank are consulted to avoid engaging into costly unsuitable designs whilst maintaining the ultimate twin goals of east and cost effective assembly.
Conclusion:
The essence of developing a new product is the ability to eventually bring it to market economically. Excessive creativity within R&D Departments has sometimes the trappings of resulting in overly designed, over spec, jack-of-all trade.
